Our Disney Trip
Disney, where all your dreams come true, is undeniably one of the wonders of the world....at least from a vacation perspective. This was largely quite an adventure in itself as we had never traveled in the States and we were going to be driving a rental in Orlando. Thank goodness for the wonders of technology a.k.a GPS for which I believe we can thank NASA for, but more about NASA later. Interspersed with the story below will be some useful tips
Financial considerations made us drive through to Buffalo International Airport and fly out from the US rather than Pearson International. Flying on Friday had the following advantages - cheaper flights and arriving at Disney one day earlier than the rest of the March Madness crowd. The drive to Buffalo in the wee hours wasn't bad at all with minimal traffic but crossing the border is still a 45 minute pain. I guess we all were catching the same flight.
We parked at the Long term parling lot B - the cost for 7 days was $48, so a pretty good deal. Some motels in the area, you can stay overnight and leave your car for a week for about $90. They will take you to the airport and pick you up on arrival. (Pretty good deal). Buffalo International is a fairly small airport, perhaps a little larger than P.E.'s Oliver Tambo. By the time we found our airline, the queue for US Airways was fairly long, but we moved at regular intervals. We are quite novices when it comes to travel, as there were check-in terminals and agents behind the counters, so it was confusing. With the agent hustlking everyone along and pushing all towards the auto terminal check-in kiosks, we duly ready the instructions shoved in the credit card. Our names popped up which is a good sign. We checked in 3 pieces of luggage and had to pay $15 per piece. (This was a surprise to me). Lady tagged our baggage and we moved through to security which was an even longer line. The sign said "have your boarding pass ready". What boarding pass? The baggage agent didn't give us boarding passes. Yikes! Had to run back to the terminals, jumped the queue, stick in the credit card - names popped up again and then in the lower right hand screen "Print boarding pass". Could they not print this in bigger letters in the middle of the screen? Ran back to Pauline and the girls waiting in the middle of the line, excusing myself to everyone who I jumping in front of.
