Canada Update
November 10, 2008

My apologies for being so slack in updating either my blogsite and not having written to you for such a long time.  Actually, since I last checked the blogsite, its been a year and a few months since my last entry.  Going forward, I will use this "Yebogogosite" to update news and entries.

You'll see this website has a photographic flavour.  I have been interested in photography for quite some time now ever since I got my SLR camera in April, or was it May.  Sport photography is my passion.  For photos, go to the link pixel corner on the sidebar.

I had the opportunity to shoot some photos at the Canada v Argentina and England v Ireland games.  I secured some free tickets from a friend at Steam Whistle Brewery who were one of the sponsors.  I offered to take photos for him and he organized with the marketing director of Rugby Canada to get me a media pass on to the field.  Now photogrpahers at sports events are really concerend with size - the bigger the lens the bigger the go.  Yes size does matter.  And they have a very strong interest to see if you are a Canonikon user.  So here I am with a Pentax entry level DSLR with a kit lens.

Anyway I took some great (in my humble opinion) shots and these are 2 of my favourites.  I sent the Marketing dude a copy of the photos and there is a possibility they may use the  photos for next years marketing campaign.

So summer has come to an end for us in Canada.  It's hard to imagine that Christmas is almost upon us.  So many things to do, like writing out my Christmas wish list.  Actually, we are really looking forward to Christmas eve mass on Dec. 24.  Why....because I won 6 platinum seats for the Christmas Mass of my choice, and scored some parking too.  I had actually won this prize at the St. Matthews Annual Golf Tournament.  What makes this prize so special apart from it being a very special occasion....is that you cannot find seating nor parking after 11.30pm.  So, I'm actually dreaming of making a grand entrance at 11.45...of course, I'm only kidding.  I'm hoping though, that there will be no blizzard.

Back to the golf day.  This was very worthwhile as last year I had missed the tournament as I got the date wrong.  Duh!  So this year, it was important that I did not forget.  At the end of the day, it was thoroughly enjoyable...2nd place in the longest drive, and for my trouble...$100 from an electronics store, $30 from the liquor store and the platinum tickets.

Bee has now started high school - my, how time flies.  Just the other day, they were in preschool.

Candice is still playing piano, and I have to admit she really is good.  We bought her a used digital piano and both she and Bee have private lessons on Mondays.
This is the piano.  Sounds like the real thing.

Pauline has settled down nicely at her new job.  The company, invited us to a day at Canada's Wonderland.  Canada's Wonderland is the home to the most exhilarating collection of rides and roller coasters in all of Canada.    When you factor in a price of $50 per head, excluding food and drink, this is pretty expensive.  Thank you Taylor Transport.  Bianca and Candice were fearless, and rode all the monster rides.  Pauline and I are too old for this, or least too chicken sh*t ....take your pick.  (Click on the link Pixel Corner for photos on the left sidebar)

Bee is now working part time on a regular basis at Silver Spring Farm on Saturdays from 9am to 2pm.  For her trouble, she gets free horse riding lessons.

A few weeks back, they had a Halloween function at the farm.  They dressed up the horses, and then had some riding competitions.  For more photos, click on the link Pixel Corner for photos on the left sidebar.  Took a lot of photos at this event.  Here's a spoof magazine cover I created of one of the senior riders at the farm.  Not bad eh?

Bee and Candice also went with their friends trick or teating around the hood.  This year was Pauline's turn to take the kids out to their friends and I stayed home to dish out the candy.  We only had 3 kids come around.  The other streets were buzzing.  I'm sick of eating all those mini kitkats and Hershy bars....

So elections have come and gone and the American people have spoken.  Hopefully, things will change for the better.  This was really fascinating stuff.  I watched most of the debates and with the US being our largest trading partner, the interest was huge.   In fact, a few weeks before the US elections, Canada had an election too.  The Conservative government called a quick election to try and strengthen their minority hold.  They ended up with more seats in parliament but could not attain the majority they were seeking.  The Liberals on the other hand lost a few seats and the leader was forced to resign due to the poor showing

A few weeks back, my ex neighbour JP, Susan and baby Maddy spent Thanksgiving with us.  The bonus was, that he brought his Porshe Carerra 4, and I had the opportunity to drive a high performance sports car for the first time.  Although the car is automatic, it does have a tiptronic transmission on the steering wheel.
Trying to make this car slide is not easy given the all wheel drive and with wide profile tires.  Thanks JP
